Preparations:

Prepare your altar. Decorate with flowers, fruits, seeds, colorful fabrics or ribbons, stones and whatever else you feel is appropriate. Set out the white/silver candle to the left, the gold/yellow candle to the right, set the stamp or pendent to the side, place a couple of cookies, cakes, or slices or fruit on a plate in front of the candles with a cup of juice or other beverage. Keep the wax paper or paper bag (folded) to the side on top of the fire proof plate. After setting up the altar wash your body and cleanse yourself. Take a few minutes to clear your mind. Wear whatever makes you happiest and brings you joy.

The Sacred Union

Approach your altar and place your hands over your heart chakra. Close your eyes. In your mind's eye visualize your body soaked in color, it swirls around under your hands but never leaves your body. Hold that visualization in your mind as you imagine the space and world around you bursting with its own color. The air, the earth, water, and all of nature is awash in color. Take in a deep breath. As you exhale see your body's color move past your lips and into the air around you. Take in another breath, imagining the colorful light around you moving into your body through your inhale. Continue to share energy with the world around, knowing that this sacred exchange connects us to all other living beings in the Universe. Lower your hands from your chest, lightly touching your altar in front of you. Visualize the light and colors from within and around you surrounding your altar as a sacred space. It is glowing with the warmth of nature around you.

Open your eyes. Take in a deep breath and pick up the silver/white Goddess candle. Hold it in front of your chest. As you hold it, think of the Goddess in all her joy. At Beltane she is at her young adult age, brimming with beauty. Light the Goddess candle and stare into the flame. Think of the Goddess and let your voice ring out as if you are announcing,

"The Goddess comes! The Goddess comes! The Goddess of beauty, joy, and bliss! Open wide the earthy gates! The Goddess comes in light, life, and love!"

Lower your hands and put the candle back in place. Take a deep breath. Exhale and pick up the cream/gold/yellow candle. Hold it in front of your chest. As you hold it, think of the God in all his glory. At Beltane he is young, robust, and full of the new found strength of a budding man. Light the God candle and stare into the flame. Think of the God and again announce,

"The God comes! The God comes! The God of young, power, and light! Open wide the earthen gates! The God comes in light, life, and love!"

Lower your hands and put the candle back in place. Take in a deep breath. Exhale and pick up the plate of cookies. Hold them up and say,

"These are of the earth, given by the earth. As the earth sustains us it unites and connects us. Just as the husband gives of himself to sustain his family, so too does the earth give of itself to sustain us."

Put the cookies down on the altar. Pick up one and eat it, think of the bounties of the earth and the way we are all connected through it. When you are done pick up the cup of juice and hold it up. Say,

"This is of the earth, given by the earth. As the earth nurtures us it calms and refreshes us. Just as the wife gives of her love to bless her family, so too does the earth give of its love to bless us. "

Bring the cup to your lips and drink as much as you like. Think of the warmth and peace within your heart, although it does not always appear it is always there. When you are done put the cup back on the altar. Take a deep breath and exhale slowly. Place the plate with the wax paper or folded paper bag on your altar. Pick up the God and Goddess candles. Hold them up and say,

"On this day of May, we remember all things are reunited! Whether through body, mind, or heart. All the world unites and connects to all other worlds! Today the God and Goddess unite, a reflection of the sacred union within our own hearts! Through light, life, and love!"
Lower the candles slowly. Carefully, pour the melted wax onto the wax paper. First the Goddess candle, then the God candle. Form whatever shape you like. When you are happy with the shape, put the candles back on your altar. Take up your stamp or pendant. When the wax has mostly cooled gently push your stamp into the wax. You may want to lightly dust it with vaseline or flour first so it does not stick. When the wax has completely dried and hardened, cut it out in a circle around your stamp. Keep it somewhere close as a reminder of the sacred unity we are all a part of.
